Enjoy Basketball Madness In March At Broadway At The Beach

The NCAA tournament bracket is now set and 68 teams begin playing this week for the national championship. Will your favorite team be victorious?

Whether you're cheering for a specific team or just enjoying the competition of it all, it's likely you'll soon be swept up in the madness this March. So why not enjoy the camaraderie of like-minded fans and the fun of friendly competition as you cheer on a team?

Broadway at the Beach is the one place that offers a variety of really great spots to enjoy a game. And the next few weeks will give you plenty of time to sample them all.

Good Time Charley's has big flat screen TVs all around so you can catch a game while enjoying some delicious food. While the menu is varied with everything from Chicken Marsala to Shrimp Scampi, it's Charley's Burger Creations that are a real treat for the tastebuds of any basketball-loving burger fan. Monday thru Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Good Time Charley's serves up a great Happy Hour menu. Plant yourself on the patio where you'll find another large flat screen TV, and enjoy.

More flavorful food and big screen TVs can be found at Liberty Brewery and Grill. Bring the whole family to watch a game and enjoy some great Southern comfort foods like genuine Southern Meatloaf, an Angus Beef® steak, or Buttermilk Fried Chicken. Adults can enjoy Liberty's own line of award-winning, hand-crafted draft beers and ales brewed on site. Happy Hour specials are available from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Over at the Original Shucker's Raw Bar, two big screen and 30 flat screen televisions are set up for a crowd's viewing pleasure. In addition, you can create your own pre-game festivities playing pool, darts, Golden Tee, Pin Ball, and even shuffleboard. Shucker's is known for its fresh, raw seafood bar and specials on oysters, shrimp, mussels, and wings, so bring your appetite. Shucker's famous Happy Hour prices are in full-force from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. everyday and include .65 oysters and .55 for shrimp, mussels and wings. Selected appetizers are just $4.99.

Broadway Louie's recently moved to a new corner location near the Comedy Club, and it still features food and drink specials on game days, and an outside patio bar. It's known for its stadium feel with banners hanging from the ceiling with the names and logos of both college and professional football teams. Flat screen TVs are both inside and outside on the patio — and they're sure to be tuned in to the NCAA games. There's even an upstairs Jack Daniels Lounge, where you can lounge on sofas while watching the games on TV.

Chuck & Duck's Sports Grill has nine 50-inch high definition TVs that can be transformed into one jumbo display screen for pivotal games. For warm spring days that end with a bit of nip in the evening, you can sit on the patio around a fire pit, while viewing games on a big-screen TV. Happy Hour specials at Chuck & Duck's are from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

When the madness of basketball sparks your interest this March, head for Broadway at the Beach.

Life Is Just a Breeze When You Fly A Kite

In spring, Myrtle Beach is the place to be if you love to fly a kite. Look up from the beach on a breezy day and you're bound to see colorful kites flying overhead and happy people holding onto the strings below.

Whether March comes in as a lion or a lamb, we head for the beach where the wind blowing off the ocean lifts the kites up, up and away. But Myrtle Beach is not alone in its love for kites.

All over the world, people are declaring March as National Kite Month. Still others are picking April as the month to celebrate. And, one site on the Web even declares that the “month" runs from March 21 to May 10. Go figure.

Declaring a special month to celebrate kites is just an indication of how much people all over the world use kites for work and play. Since kites were invented more than 2000 years ago in China, they have been used for everything from science and meteorology, to generating power. Some ingenious folks have even used them to pull sleds in winter and carriages when horses weren't available. In Myrtle Beach, we fly our kites for fun and relaxation, and the sheer joy of watching them soar across the Carolina blue sky.

If you're a kite enthusiast or just want to try your hand at kite flying, one of the best resources along the Grand Strand is Klig's Kites right in Broadway at the Beach. Klig's has been a fixture at Broadway for years, and it's so popular that it's currently undergoing a renovation that will make the store bigger and even better.

When the store reopens the first of March, stop by and experience a world of wonder. From single-line kites to dual and quad line kites, to kites that do loops, figure eights, dives and many other maneuvers, there are kites for all ages of kids and adults. And, while Klig's is known for its kites, it's also a great place to find flags, gags, windsocks, windchimes, mailbox covers, sports merchandise and much, much more!

Whether you choose to celebrate your kite month in March, April or May, start the festivities at Klig's Kites. Find your fun soaring high as you take to the sky with a kite.

How Much Will Your Kids Love The KidzTime Festival?

Have your kids ever been to the KidzTime Festival at Broadway at the Beach? If not, now is the time to take them. We guarantee they'll love it.

If they've been to the event before, it's likely that they already are asking you to take them again this year.

Several new activities have been added for 2016, including the Game Truck Party where kids can play various video games; pony rides from 5 Star Farms; and craft painting with Innovations Artists’ Emporium.

This is the 15th time we've hosted this family-friendly event which is free and open to the public. So, mark your calendar for Saturday, February 20, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and join us for the fun!

Thundering into the festival at 11:30 a.m. and staying until 3:30 p.m. is Marvel Comics Superhero THOR. His electrifying special visit (sponsored by Time Warner Cable) will give kids an opportunity to get up close and personal with the comic book and movie hero.

When not meeting THOR, children can participate in a variety of kid-friendly games and interactive activities. A stage inside a large, circus-style tent will be the place to see live performances provided by Broadway at the Beach and WBTW spokeskid, Lance Stevens; the Johnny Rockets dancers; and Ripley’s Aquarium's RUCKUS. There will even be a fashion show from Sparkles, featuring Mini Starz & The Character Company.

Again this year, Broadway is delivering five hours of rollicking, energy-burning fun, with mascot appearances, face painting, spin art, and even some sparkly nail painting. The popular petting zoo and trackless train rides are back, and there will also be a fire engine on display, along with spin-to-win wheels, and bouncy houses.

Join us in parking lot 17, located next to Pavilion Park West and WonderWorks, on the 21st Avenue North side of the property where you'll be able to check out more than 40 vendors located inside and outside our tent.
