Take A Little Myrtle Beach Fun Home For The Holidays

Posted in Broadway at the Beach, Shopping

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Christmas in July, that is!

December 25th may be months away, but the tradition of planning for the holidays and picking up gifts at pre-holiday prices in the middle of summer is alive and well.

TV has even gotten in on the action with both the Hallmark Channel and QVC celebrating with holiday movies and Christmas-themed merchandise this month.

There's no real way to trace the beginnings of this holiday phenomenon. Several origin stories attempt to place it in the late 1930s and early 1940s. But only one thing is sure. The concept has been warmly embraced by both American merchants and their customers.

If you're among the millions who think July is a good season to begin the hunt for that unique gift for a special someone, then come to Broadway at the Beach and get a jump on your Christmas shopping!

First stop on your quest to get in the holiday spirit should be Christmas At The Beach on the 21st Avenue side of Broadway, near Yamato Steak House Japan. This wonderful shop is dedicated to all things Christmas. You'll discover great holiday décor, including majestic trees dazzling with lights, colorful wreaths and just the right stockings to hang by the chimney with care.

At the Visitors Center, you can pick up a map and go on a hunt for Christmas treasures around Broadway. A successful quest for the unexpected is sure to put smiles on the faces of those you love this December.

Myrtle Beach memorabilia and treasures can be found at Broadway's boutique stores and shops. Merchants like the General Store, Crabby Jack's and Crabby Jill's have stocks of holiday ornaments designed to spark memories when they are unwrapped in the chill of winter.

Pick up a bottle of a fruity "Vacation In A Bottle" wine from Boardwalk Winery. You can serve it in early December as a relaxing way to end a day of hanging decorations.

Need a unique gift for that hostess who stages the holiday party of the season? A charming spoon rest from The Paula Deen Store could be just the ticket.

Discover a treasure at the Man Cave Store that could be the hit of the holiday season for your man's place of his own.

Or charm that special woman in your life with a unique jewelry piece from Earthbound Trading Company.

It's easy and fun to get a start on your Christmas shopping at Broadway this July. And, if you listen closely, you can almost hear the sound of sleigh bells ringing!

Life In Myrtle Beach Is Even Sweeter Since Savannah Bee Company Buzzed Into Broadway

The newest store at Broadway at the Beach has the whole town buzzing with its sweet collection of honey flavors and health, beauty and body care products.

While there's always been a keen appreciation for the great taste of honey, there's also a growing affection for the natural healing powers in beeswax, royal jelly, and propolis from bee hives. Savannah Bee Company is dedicated to bringing consumers unique flavors of honey as food — and to show how the other components from a hive can nurture your skin.

From hand cream to body wash to soap, lip gloss and much more, Savannah Bee Company has products that celebrate the contributions of bees and their honey. After all, bees are among the hardest-working creatures on earth. They have to visit approximately 2 million flowers to make just one pound of honey!

Savannah Bee Company grew out of its owner's admiration for bees and a passion for beekeeping and honey. Over 35 years, he searched for the world's best honeys and then developed a delightful assortment of specialty honeys. His search yielded unique sensory thrills enjoyed by every visitor who steps through the doors of Savannah Bee Company.

The new store is on the 21st Avenue side of Broadway at the Beach near Starbuck's. Head there to find the sweet and complex Carolina Wildflower honey that's produced by hives strategically located in and around the Charleston, South Carolina area.

Be sure to check out the woodsy aroma and delicate soft sweetness of Savannah Bee Rosemary Honey, one of the most intricate and complex honey varieties. With origins in Spain, this delicious honey delivers a distinct herbal complement to chicken, shrimp, pork and lamb.

Or take home an international favorite, Lavender Honey, one of the most prized honeys harvested from the remote mountains of Southern Spain. You'll be enchanted by the slight floral aroma and subtle fruity finish that gives it a delicate taste. Its light color and gentle flavor notes have even inspired cooks to use it as substitute for sugar in baking.

But don't let your adventure into new taste territories keep you from exploring the other benefits of honey and hive ingredients like beeswax and royal jelly. A nourishing, gentle cleanser that naturally exfoliates skin, honey is used in four Savannah Bee Honey Body Wash scents: Wild Blackberry, Lemongrass Spearmint, Orange Blossom and Tupelo Honey.

After a day in the Myrtle Beach sun, stop by for some all-natural Beeswax Lip Gloss to hydrate and protect your lips. It comes in Mint Blossom, Wild Blackberry, Sweet Nothings or Tupelo Honey.

Or nourish your hair and scalp with the rich B-vitamins and antioxidants in Savannah Bee Shampoo and Conditioner. Made from harvesting the intense softening properties of honey, propolis, and royal jelly, it will leave your hair thick, shiny, and soft.

Isn't it time you visited Savannah Bee Company at Broadway at the Beach to see what all the buzz is about?

How To Have A Great Mother's Day With The Mom Who Loves To Shop

You love Mom. Mom loves to shop. She cruises through all the sales at the giant department stores, knows where to find the hidden gems at malls, and is a master at finding bargains online from sites like Amazon to QVC.

So how do you make Mother's Day special for your Mom?

This year, don't just give her a card and a present. Treat her to an experience. Make a memory she'll cherish forever when you take her on a treasure hunt for something she'll love.

Mother's Day is too important to waste on a simple excursion to an outlet mall or department store. This is a special occasion, so select somewhere that radiates a unique sense of place with an atmosphere that can't be found online or at the mall. Take her where there is an exciting fusion of shopping, dining and entertainment. Take her to Broadway at the Beach.

From the moment you drive onto the perimeter road with its tall palm trees blowing in the breeze, you know you've arrived at a different kind of place.

As you stroll together among the unique boutiques and attractions, you never feel rushed. There's an aura of relaxation and an implicit invitation to pick a bench in a common area, sit a spell and people watch.

With more than 100 shops, there's so much to see and do. Maybe you'll stop by Key West Hat Company and show Mom how great she'd look in one of their special hats. If your Mom's taste leans toward the fashion forward, it may be fun to check out the apparel at Gemini Boutique.

If she's a jewelry lover, stop by Allure and look at the lovely jewelry and accessories to match any outfit. Over at A Silver Shack, let her discover the largest selection of silver jewelry in town, much of it with a European flare. And don't miss SC Jewelers where she'll discover one-of-a-kind pieces like their signature Palm Tree Necklace.

From shops like Bijuju with its innovative and beautiful handbags, fashion jewelry and accessories, to the sun-powered products at Del Sol, you can fill this special day chancing upon one unique item after another.

With all that shopping, she'll probably work up an appetite. No matter her taste, you can treat her to the intimate setting of a small eatery, a memorable meal at a distinctive restaurant specializing in her favorite food, or the atmosphere of an open-air deck overlooking Lake Broadway.

It's been 102 years since President Woodrow Wilson made Mother's Day an official national holiday in 1914. Make this year the one your Mom will remember forever.
