For true movie buffs, February means scrutinizing performances, analyzing story lines and debating which actor or director did the best job. For many, the impulse to see all of the movies nominated for "Best Film" approaches a fever pitch.

After all, how can you watch the 87th Academy Awards and judge the best of the best if you haven't seen the nominees for yourself?

Luckily, half of the 8 nominees for best picture are currently playing at the Carmike Cinema—Broadway 17. American Sniper, Birdman, Selma and The Theory of Everything are all still available for viewing.

How To Make This Valentine’s Day Memorable

February 14 is Valentine's Day, and this year it falls on a Saturday. Why not celebrate the entire day with a little star-gazing, followed by a romantic dinner and a show?

An intriguing first stop on any memory-making tour is the Hollywood Wax Museum. Where else can you gaze at an extraordinary galaxy of stars indoors?

Be sure to get lots of snapshots of you and your sweetheart with other famous Tinsel-town lovebirds. It's the best opportunity in Myrtle Beach to snuggle up close to your favorite romantic A-lister!

As you walk among the famous figures, recall some of the sentimental films that starred your favorite actors. You're sure to be in a romantic mood after recounting amorous story lines as you walk hand in hand.

When it's time for dinner, head right across the street to Broadway at the Beach where you'll find more than 20 different restaurants. Check out Landry's for a quiet seafood dinner or Amici's for some saucy Italian fare. From Angus sirloin and ribs at Liberty Brewery & Grill to a Japanese steakhouse, to a free glass of champagne with dinner at Good Time Charley's or Rooster's Restaurant & Bar, to the special "Splash of Love" evening at Ripley's Aquarium, there's lots to choose from. No matter what kind of food or atmosphere your sweetheart likes, you'll find it at Broadway.

Follow up dinner for two with a live show at Legends In Concert or The Palace. Or take in the latest flick at the Carmike 17.

And that's how you make a Valentine's Day memorable.

It's one of the most anticipated events of the year for kids of all ages and when this year's festivities get underway, the crowd will be treated to live performances, fire engine rides, face painting, games, interactive activities, mascot appearances and much, much more. It's coming up in just 16 days. And, admission to the event is free.

But those aren't the best reasons for attending The 14th Annual KidzTime Festival at Broadway at the Beach from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2015.

This kid-centric festival will delight the whole family. Here are just a few of the reasons your family should go:

Marvel Comics' Hulk Will Be There — This festival offers a rare chance to meet Bruce Banner's alter ego and get up close and personal with the big green guy himself. When Marvel Comics' Hulk meets and greets fans, you'll be dazzled by the enormity of the creature and his muscles.

Kids Will Dig All The Activities And Games — This is the year's most rollicking street fair focused on kids. WonderWorks, Hard Rock Café, Ripley's Aquarium, Toys & Co., Joe's Crab Shack, Myrtle Waves Water Park, Sparkles, Del Sol and many more will be joining in the festival fun at Broadway to the delight of the little ones.

There Will Be Pony Rides — What kid doesn't like to shimmy into a saddle and take a pony ride? It's a dream come true.

Meeting Baby Animals Is Part Of The Day — Human kids just tend to be fascinated with young ones of other species. Our friends from Alligator Adventure in North Myrtle Beach are packing up some baby animals and bringing them to Broadway. But just what kinds of babies will they be? They could be anything from alligators to spiders and more!

There Are Prizes Just For Finishing A Game — Join in the fun of visiting some of Broadway's most intriguing stores to fill the list of items needed for our Scavenger Hunt. Everyone who completes the hunt will win a prize. Now, that's a stress-free competition.

Don't miss the 14th Annual KidzTime Festival at Broadway at the Beach from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2015.

How To Get In The Game This Sunday

Sunday, February 1st is the biggest night of the year for football fans. Don't be one of those guys who's home waiting for a pizza to be delivered when it's kick off time.

This year's Big Game features the West Coast versus the East Coast when the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots take to the field. If you don't have tickets for the University of Phoenix (AZ) stadium (and few among us do), the next best thing is to head to a sports bar or restaurant where you'll be surrounded by oversized TVs and excited fans who are as pumped up for the game as you are.

Kick-off is 6:30 p.m., but you'll want to be well-settled in with your friends and family at least an hour or two earlier so you can catch the pre-game shows and engage in some friendly pre-game predictions.

Here's where a lot of the Big Game fun will be happening this Sunday:

Chuck & Duck's Sports Grill has nine 50-inch TVs that can be transformed into one jumbo display and you can lay down a bet that's what will happen this Sunday. But that's not all. Chuck & Duck's also has fifty more 50-inch high-definition LED TVs that ensure you won't miss one minute of any game. Even when you step out onto the patio, you'll be able to watch the game on big-screen TVs while you relax around a fire pit. There will be special prices on wings, sliders, mozzarella sticks and loaded fries, while draft domestic beer will be $2 and bottles of domestic beer will be just $2.25. Call 843-232-7084 for more info.

If you think you need more than just the excitement of the Big Game to keep you amused, head over to the Original Shucker's Raw Bar. You can play a little pool, darts, Golden Tee, Pin Ball, and even shuffleboard while the pre-game shows warm up the fans. Two big-screen projectors and 30 flat screen televisions will be tuned to the Pats and the Seahawks when you're ready for kick off. Shucker's is known for its fresh, raw seafood bar and specials on oysters, shrimp, mussels, and wings, so bring your appetite. Shucker's famous Happy Hour prices will be in full-force on Sunday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with $0.65 oysters and $0.55 for shrimp, mussels and wings. Selected appetizers are just $4.99. Daily drink specials will also be available. Need more info? Call 626-9535.

Love that stadium feel in a sports bar? Head to one of the largest sports bars along the Grand Strand, Broadway Louie's. In this two-story sports spectator's paradise, you'll discover a 25-foot jumbo screen that puts you right in the middle of the action. Surrounded by four additional giant television screens and 35 smaller ones, you can't possibly miss any of the epic on-field action that pundits are predicting. At Broadway Louie's, there's not a bad seat in the house. Food and drink specials, as well as contests, ensure you'll be in on the action all night. More details at 445-6885.

If the Big Game is a time for your family to bond, head over to Hard Rock Cafe's Rock n' Bowl on Sunday. The game will be showing on all 12 hi-def TVs in the pyramid and also on a 10 x 14 jumbo screen. There will be half price apps and drink specials during the game. Each quarter, there will be a drawing for a door prize ($100, $200 and $300 values), ending with a grand prize as the game wraps up. Reservations are recommended if you want to get a "sideline" seat in front of the jumbo screen. There will even be a "Kid's End Zone" open where the kiddos can enjoy complimentary board games, movies and snacks. Call 843-946-0007, ext. 208 for more info.

This Sunday is one night that you should not spend at home. Get out and get into the game!
