Broadway Is The Place For Fun On June 20 And Father’s Day

Since 1995, Broadway at the Beach has been the center of fun for Myrtle Beach. Roughly 14 million guests visit us each year to enjoy our restaurants, shops, and entertainment. Those twenty years have flown by, and now some who first came to Broadway as kids are returning to experience Broadway with their own families.

We want to thank you for your support by providing a few surprises, as well as prizes. This month, we'll have special activities on the 20th. And, we'll do it all over again on July 20 and August 20.

On Saturday, June 20 from 4 to 6 p.m., join us in Center Court for a little fun in the sun. We'll have character appearances; free balloons and free face painting for the kids, a spin wheel of prizes, where everyone is a winner, and if you're one of the first 200 people to attend, you'll get a free candy pack from our friends at It'Sugar. (If the weather turns on us, we'll move the spin wheel of prizes, the It'Sugar giveaway, and our free balloons inside the Guest Services office.)

After all that fun on June 20, why not bring Dad back to Broadway the next day for Father's Day? Turn him on to some high octane fun at Broadway Grand Prix where the whole family can enjoy 19 attractions including go-kart tracks, rock wall climbing, the thrilling Skycoaster®, indoor arcade, and more. Next, head over to Helicopter Adventures for a memorable ride into the sky high above Myrtle Beach. Round out the day with a jet boat ride around Lake Broadway before taking Dad to his favorite restaurant for dinner.

Spending time with your Dad is the best gift you can give him. So come to Broadway and make some memories together.

Dinosaurs Descend On Myrtle Beach

Get ready. They will be jumping right off the huge, 3D screen at Broadway at the Beach at 10:50 p.m. on June 11.

"They"are the T-Rex, Triceratops and other dinosaurs coming to Myrtle Beach in the new film Jurassic World.

The 3D version of this much-anticipated movie starts its run at Carmike's Big D auditorium at Broadway that day. From the roars of prehistoric creatures coming through a powerful surround sound system to 20-foot-tall dinosaurs filling up the three-story screen with their ferocity, you'll feel like you're right inside the movie.

The much-anticipated follow up to the Jurassic Park movie trilogy that launched 22 years ago will start showing on smaller screens at Carmike Cinemas at Broadway on June 12. However, if you're a real dinosaur fan and want to get up close and personal with these creatures, Thursday, June 11 at 10:50 p.m. is a date worth circling on your calendar.

You can also experience dinosaurs outside the theater when you visit Broadway this summer. In Heroes Harbor near Ripley's Aquarium, the biggest creatures ever to roam the earth are waiting at "Dinosaurs: The Exhibition." That's where you'll find full-scale, realistic animatronic models lurking among replicas of plant and animal species that shared their environments more than 65 million years ago.

Fascinating and educational with its compelling scientific story of a vital period in Earth's history, this exhibition also has elements of the kind of fun that the fictional Jurassic theme park was going for 22 years ago.. Different adventure zones such as "Dig a Dino" allow children to become junior paleontologists searching for dinosaur fossils. "Ride a Dino" offers a rare and extraordinary opportunity to climb aboard and ride a T-Rex or Triceratops.

It's the summer of the dinosaurs for Myrtle Beach and Broadway at the Beach. Take a trip to the Jurassic world onscreen and then bring the film to life with your own journey among the creatures in Dinosaurs: The Exhibition.

Both deliver fun of prehistoric proportions.

Thank You For Broadway At The Beach’s TripAdvisor Certificate Of Excellence Award

TripAdvisor reviews are the "go to" source for those planning a vacation, choosing a restaurant or heading to an attraction. When a property receives a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence two years in a row, it's both outstanding and inspiring.

Recipients of the award are "determined by traveler reviews and ratings on TripAdvisor." To earn one, a property has to "consistently impress travelers" — so much so that travelers are moved to write a review about the experience.

It's truly inspiring to read the many positive reviews that catapulted Broadway to its Excellence award.

Some reviews confirmed that you come to Broadway because of the "Great food choices. Great shops. Rides for the little ones. Mini golf and water sports. Great break from the beach."

We were especially thrilled to see reviews raving that "Broadway at the Beach is my family's all-time favorite place to visit when we are at MYRTLE BEACH!!!! We had dinner at Hard Rock and Margaritaville. Explored WonderWorks, ziplined, shopped, had a wine tasting, ate pralines, fed the fish, and people watched. Favorite place besides the beach."

Those kinds of reviews earned us a Certificate again this year. But, more importantly, they demonstrated that you think we're delivering a great experience.

And knowing that is the best award of all.

Five Facts To Share With Your Mom On Mother’s Day

Mothers are our biggest cheerleaders, always there to back us up and support us. This Sunday, as you celebrate Mom, you can also dazzle her with your knowledge of little-known facts about her special holiday.

You know she'll be proud.

After several false starts in the 1800s, Mother's Day finally made it onto the roster of national holidays in 1914. President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation officially establishing the second Sunday in May as national Mother's Day. Today, official Mother's Days are celebrated in about 50 countries — but not always in May.

The first Mother's Day cards were designed and sold by Hallmark in the early 1920s. Today, about 130 million cards are sent each Mother's Day — more than at any other time of the year, with the exception of Christmas and Valentine's Day.

Flowers are also big business for Mother's Day. Interestingly, roses are not the most popular flowers. That distinction goes to the humble carnation.

Today's American families often live far apart, so it's no surprise that a lot of folks reach out to their mothers via phone on Mother's Day. Last year, approximately 122 million phone calls were made to moms throughout the U.S.

Celebrating Mom's special day is important to us. Mother's Day is the third most popular holiday in the world, second to only Christmas and Easter. So make your plans for May 10 now.

Mother's Day is the perfect day to treat Mom to a day of shopping, food and fun at Broadway at the Beach. Challenge Mom to some mini golf at Dragon's Lair — and let her win. Through Monday, May 11, Moms get one round of golf for free. Or stop by Old Tyme Portraits By Treadway and get a photo taken together. She'll treasure this forever.

If Mom loves jewelry, surprise her with a Brighton necklace and bracelet from Gemini Boutique. As an added bonus, you'll get a pair of earrings free. She'll be impressed with this lovely gift set. For Moms who love the Pandora jewelry line, you'll want to stop by The Mole Hole. While supplies last, there are a variety of charms and a gift set made especially for Mom. With inscriptions like "first my mother" and "always my friend,"and "always in my heart," she'll know just how much she means to you.

Of course you can't go wrong if you spoil Mom by picking up the tab for a nice lunch or dinner. Over some scrumptious food, casually charm her with your grasp of five fun facts about Mother's Day. She'll probably assume you took the time to find such nuggets just to see her smile. And, you'll make her happy.
