Let's Eat! We’re On A (Sushi) Roll… and on Hibachi… And on Appetizers At Broadway’s King Kong Sushi

Celebrity chef, Nobu Matsuhisa once said, "Making sushi is an art and experience is everything."

Well, we are pretty sure the world famous chef would be totally culinary captivated at King Kong Sushi at Broadway at the Beach. On our recent visit, his quote proved true as the vibrant colors and configurations of sushi, tempura, hibachi and everything in between was delicately created and even more important, they were deliciously enjoyed. This local's favorite opened it's doors in 2009 and has been named best sushi at the beach since 2012 and from our recent visit, we can see and taste why!

As you can tell, it's easy to see why the making of sushi is an art.

But also these creations, including pork belly…

(Smoked pork belly with a touch of teriyaki sauce, topped with a special sauce)

Gyoza...

(Pork, chicken and vegetable pan fried dumplings)

And shrimp tempura...

(Shrimp and vegetables lightly battered and deep fried)

Are also appealing not only to our taste buds, but our eyes as well!

Believe it or not… these are all considered appetizers and small plates... but each could very easily pass as a very filling meal!

Want to scroll back up and be tempted by the perfectly plated pictures? Go ahead, we will wait.

Okay, now back to the deliciousness of our visit.

Our girls mid-day getaway included three different sushi rolls and if that wasn't enough (which it was), we also split a lunch portion of the chicken hibachi!

For our trio of rolls, we went with the OMG Roll and it's very easy to see where this roll gets it's name because O-M-G was it good! This roll features garlic marinated fried chicken, crab, cucumber and lettuce, topped with tempura flakes, spicy mayo, teriyaki and apple chili sauce! Again, no words are needed to describe this creation… just three little letters... O-M-G!

For the sushi selection, we enjoyed the Hurricane Roll which includes crab, cream cheese and cucumber, topped with spicy grilled crab and scallop, teriyaki sauce and sesame seeds. Then last but certainly not least, we selected the Spider Roll which features soft shell crab tempura, cucumber, avocado, smelt roe and teriyaki sauce.

We were certainly on a roll or actually a trio of sushi rolls as we were also enjoying a lunch portion of chicken hibachi! Not only did our hibachi include a big portion of freshly made chicken, rice and veggies but also miso soup and a salad with their own homemade ginger dressing.

Now, it is safe to say, our trio lunch tribe may have blown our low carb diets for the mid-day date, but it was worth every delicious bite, every carb and every calorie! But be rest assured, we ate around 1pm and that was it for the rest of the day as we were filled to our belly brim with King Kong's finest!

A visit to King Kong Sushi goes beyond the plated perfection, but also the experience of the newly renovated restaurant both inside and outside on their beautiful new patio overlooking Lake Broadway, perfect for watching fireworks at night or the jetboat by day!

And we can't forget about the beautiful bar offering cocktails, martinis, Moscow mules and everything in between!

That's not all King Kong Sushi has to offer, they even offer catering for your events.

Case and point, how cool would your next event be if you served this…

So as our quick trip to Northeast Asia came to a close in the Southeast coastal city of Myrtle Beach, we filled up and set out on a walk around Broadway at the Beach and of course, already started planning our next visit to King Kong Sushi!

Let’s Eat! Liberty Brewery & Grill

She stands tall right outside the front door. She guides you to delicious foods and cold brews. She's there for lunch, dinner and those happy hours in between. She's Lady Liberty and she's the perfect host for when you're hungry at Liberty Brewery & Grill at Broadway at the Beach!

We recently took our taste buds on a lunch tour of deliciousness and we enjoyed every nibble, nosh and nip!

First things first, the appetizers! Let us repeat, APPETIZERS!

From tommy cheese fries, baked pretzels, cracklin' chicken tenders and hot bacon & onion cheese dip to other mouth-watering creations, you can fill up on nothing but appetizers and be completely content! (Trust us, we almost did, but for the sake of this blog, our palate pressed on!)

Now on to the main event!

Time and time again, the wide variety of options on the menu at Liberty Brewery never cease to amaze, but somehow we were able to narrow it down to our favorite got-to lunch loves, pizza and burgers! The Certified Angus Beef burgers are always a juicy, tasty, make your tongue start salivating choice! We love every single bite of them. Every. Single. Bite. Oh and the pizza? Liberty's freshly made pizza pies play second fiddle to no one! The slices of warm crust, tomato sauce, hot melty cheese and toppings; we may have been in Myrtle Beach, but our taste buds took a trip to little Italy! As you can tell, we share the same amount of love and affection for the pizzas as we do for the burgers, well actually everything on the menu!

At this point, we were completely filled to our belly brim. Yes, we stuffed ourselves with so much savory goodness! So unfortunately, with this trip we didn't partake in any desserts at the table, including triple layer chocolate cake, New York cheesecake and Key Lime Pie! But no worries, that's what to-go boxes are for, so we ordered a sweet treat to take with us! However, it didn't last long as we devoured it just an hour later!

Now you see why it was so hard to say no! However, there is always next time and that's exactly what we're planning for during our next tasty trip to see Lady Liberty as we enjoy Liberty Brewery & Grill at Broadway at the Beach!
