ILLUMINATION PARK AT THE HANGOUT TO PREMIERE IN JUNE AT BROADWAY AT THE BEACH

Free Immersive Art Experience Featuring Innovative Lighted And Interactive Installations Happening Throughout The 2022 Summer Season

May 19, 2022 Myrtle Beach, S.C. Broadway at the Beach, an experiential retail and entertainment center located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, has partnered with The Hangout Restaurant to create Illumination Park: An Art Experience at The Hangout, at Broadway at the Beach this summer.

Set to officially premiere on June 2nd, Illumination Park will be located on the lawn across from The Hangout Restaurant in the new Key West Village section of Broadway at the Beach. The carefully curated art experience will be free and open to the public and will offer the entire family access to world-class artworks. Magnificent from day to night, Illumination Park takes on a more vibrant look as the sun fades when every piece comes to life with illumination.

Exhibits included in the Illumination Park are designed to embrace the creative energy and nostalgic feel of The Hangout. The selected artworks explore a magical representation of classic childhood symbols, along with celebrating elements of the natural world.

Illumination Park displays will include Electric Dandelions, which features six towering steel and acrylic structures animating the sky overhead with a dazzling array of LED-based animations mimicking the phosphorous beauty of fireworks. It will also feature The Cloud Swings, an interactive installation offering guests an opportunity to activate colors and light while swinging below a glowing cloud structure, and Ketleflower, a sunflower sculpture displaying an array of illuminated animations choreographed to an accompanying ethereal soundtrack. Evanescent, an immersive light sculpture that embodies the ever-changing human experience with sets of luminous multi-colored orbs, will also be a part of Illumination Park along with a stunning array of other displays.

The exhibit will also present a sculpture by local artist, Jim Swaim. His colorful crab sculpture is designed to bring awareness and attention to the need for environmental preservation. The sculpture will be lit internally to symbolize hope and signify the role each of us can play in preserving our environment for the future.

"We are excited to partner with The Hangout and expand our entertainment offerings this summer and bring to life Illumination Park," said April Dendy Martin, senior vice president at Burroughs & Chapin. "This art experience offers a visually vibrant and interactive backdrop for our guests to create life-long memories. As part of our redevelopment efforts at Broadway at the Beach, we're committed to creating unique experiences like Illumination Park to enhance the quality of life of our community."

"At The Hangout, we create experiences that bring generations together and art is a big part of that. We've gathered an assortment of unique art installations curated especially for the Myrtle Beach location. We like to make sure our visitors aren't just observers -- they become participants in the fun," said Shaul Zislin, owner, The Hangout. "Illumination Park is an immersive experience that will also bring generations together by providing people a place where excitement and adventure await."

The new Key West Village section of Broadway at the Beach will also feature permanent murals that will be created and installed in the coming months. Additional artworks may also appear later in the summer as part of Illumination Park.
