Ice cream, pralines and some adult drinks in between, these are a few of our favorite things when visiting Heroes Harbor. From the cool creations of Cold Stone Creamery to the southern staples of taffy and pralines at River Street Sweets, to the tropical drinks of the Islands at Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville, you can sip, savor and satisfy your sweet tooth!

A Blast From The Past

There's nothing like capturing your family and friends in a photo to look upon long after your trip to Myrtle Beach! Located in Heroes Harbor, we have a place that will allow your whole family to step back in time, long before the selfie and photo editing apps took hold of social media. We're talking about Old Tyme Portraits where you can suit up in vintage wear and journey into the past for a souvenir photo. So smile (or be serious) for the camera and enjoy!

Wine About It

Whether your taste buds prefer the flavors of winter, spring, summer or fall… you can taste all four seasons with a cool sip of wine at Coastal Carolina Winery. Can't decide which one to take home? No wine worries here, they offer wine tastings. So sip and savor, then select your favorite or favorites to enjoy at home! You'll come for the wine, but trust us, you will also want to stay for their salsas, dressings, jellies, marinades too!

Of course, you can't visit Heroes Harbor without doing a little shopping and this area has something for everyone! Start with Blondie's, where you pick up the latest MTV styled fashions, trendy jewelry, cool tees and music oriented gifts! Got a sports fan in your crew? Fan Cave has everything you need to deck out your man cave (or she shed) with your favorite team's logos and memorabilia! Need some stylish shades? Sunglass Hut can help cover your baby blues with high fashion including Prada, Michael Kors, Gucci and more. And finally, you don't want to miss a visit to Earthbound Trading Company where you can find an eclectic mix of gifts and home décor that will add a serene touch to any space.

It's Always Five O'clock Somewhere

Let the lighthouse lead you to one of the most recognizable landmarks at Broadway at the Beach and in Heroes Harbor, Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville! Whether you want to dine on delicious burgers, volcano nachos and coastal culinary creations inside the permanently docked boat, Euphoria, or just want a tropical escape with a cold one at Stranded on the Sandbar, at Margaritaville you can fill up on the tropics. At Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville hourly hurricanes are celebrated, the food is scrumptious and the drinks allow for a summer escape throughout every season of the year! With live music on select nights, you can't beat the atmosphere as you enjoy a night out!

Spectrachrome crystals, sun light and solar energy… no this blog isn't a lesson in the outer limits of the galaxy, but rather the color change magic of Del-Sol at Broadway at the Beach! We recently visited the unique store and learned how the process of harnessing the sun's energy can create colorful designs on everything at Del-Sol from t-shirts and sunglasses to nail polish, jewelry and accessories!

Now we could try to explain the process and backstory of the color change magic, involving something called molecular excitation transition, nanometers and NASA Astronauts, but it's best explained here.

Now how cool is that? Let's see it again.

Whatever you choose to purchase at Del-Sol, it starts out as simplistic and ends up spectacular as it hits the sun or indoors using their solar panels! But it's not a one change deal, once your shirt, glasses or trinket is back indoors away from the sun rays, it changes back to the original, so you can experience the colorful change day after day! It was a cool experience to learn about the sun's energy and we even walked out with a few shirts of our own! Speaking of cool experience, our next stop was a return visit right next store to Cariloha a sister store of Del-Sol where everything is made of bamboo. From the Appalachian Mountains to the Carolina coast, the smooth spirits of Kentucky Mist Distillery are now being poured at Broadway at the Beach! The new craft distillery boasts unique flavors of moonshine and vodka from today and yesteryear as it brings the heritage of Eastern Kentucky to Myrtle Beach.

The founding of Kentucky Mist dates back to the days of American Prohibition or as Kentucky Misters call it, the dark ages! Distilling corn liquor and bootlegging in the Appalachian Mountains in Whitesburg, Kentucky was the family business for Henry Holbrook. The history of Mr. Holbrook's Kentucky Mist has a few twists and turns and even includes the notorious, Al Capone. To read about it, click here.

So from the "dark ages" to today's new generation of moonshiners, Colin Fultz, Henry Holbrook's Grandson has taken over the family business and recently opened a brand new store at Broadway.

It's not all about the moonshine, but also their award winning vodka! In fact, their 1902 Whitesburg Vodka is the only barrel vodka in the United States, winning a gold medal at the 2017 Sip Awards! Talk about a prestigious pour!

Now when it comes to the variety of moonshine, the sweet fruity sky is the limit as flavors include Apple Pie, Caramel Apple, and infusions featuring blackberry, cherry, cranberry, grape, peach and lemonade.

Not sure which one you want to take home? They can help you decide as you sample the moonshine sweetness. For just $5, you can sample six half oz. shots. Of course, you will have to be 21 years of age to sample and purchase!

Along with your beverage of choice, you can also take home a Kentucky Mist shirt, mug, coozie, sweet treats and more!

Burr… it's cold here along the coast of the Carolinas! Whether you were born and raised near Myrtle Beach or you're a transplant from up north or just here for a visit, the temperature drop has us all layering up and bundled up into our rarely needed winter gear!

Although that January chill will have you wanting to stay inside, here's some temperature rising tips that will have you staying warm at Broadway at the Beach!
