Dive Into National Seafood Month At Broadway At The Beach

Posted in Broadway at the Beach, Dining

Attention Seafood Lovers!

October is National Seafood Month and Broadway at the Beach is one of the best places in Myrtle Beach to sample some of the ocean's culinary bounty.

Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville is known for great tropical drinks and songs that pay tribute to the Key West lifestyle playing in the background. But did you know that Margaritaville also serves seafood that will make your mouth sing? Any type of seafood — broiled, grilled or fried — is made to perfection here, as well as some very unique culinary creations. A big favorite is the crispy coconut-encrusted shrimp that comes out of the fryer hot and ready to be dipped in a tangy horseradish-orange marmalade sauce. And Mac 'n Cheese lovers go crazy for Jimmy's version of this all-American dish with its shrimp and white lump crabmeat married with pasta in a Boursin cream sauce.

Year after year, the Original Shucker's Raw Bar is voted Best Raw Bar on the entire Grand Strand. But the restaurant's commitment to serving great seafood doesn't stop there. A feast at Shucker's can begin with any of a variety of lip-smacking appetizers, including the popular fried seafood sampler brimming with calamari, grouper fingers, shrimp, scallops and oysters. Shucker's carefully prepares a wide variety of seafood from fried and steamed oysters, to sauteed scallops and shrimp, to the blackened fish of the day. One of the most scrumptious and inclusive feasts it offers is the "Steam Pot" which has one whole pound of crab legs and a bounty of oysters, clams, mussels and shrimp. Split it with a friend — it's big enough for two.

Landry's Seafood delivers the true flavor of the Gulf Coast and dishes out New Orleans influences with creole and cajun seasonings. This is where you'll find one of the South's most famous signature dishes like shrimp & grits made with creole sauce and cajun andouille sausage. Treat your tastebuds to Tilapia Hemingway with its parmesan encrusted goodness topped with lump blue crab meat and lemon butter. Or dive into plump, seared scallops with sweet corn fondue, crab orzo, garlic sautéed spinach, and succulent, blistered grape tomatoes.

Over at Key West Grill, they celebrate the beach lifestyle with careful preparation of fresh local seafood and recipes straight from the Florida Keys. On the restaurant's deck overlooking Lake Broadway, you can experience the restaurant's fresh catch of the day in one of eight special Key West ways. Imagine an evening dinner of pan-seared fish with tart mustard and lime butter, or paired with pineapple and plantain chutney, or prepared with mango, ginger and shaved coconut. Yum.

Joe's Crab Shack is the place to go when you want to strap on a bib and enjoy your favorite bucket of crab. Joe's has it all — King, Queen, Snow and Dungeness crab. The menu also features lots and lots of shrimp dishes, including the crowd-favorite Southern Stuffed Shrimp — jumbo grilled bacon-wrapped shrimp filled with seafood stuffing and served with crab dirty rice, hushpuppies, vegetables and buttery spiced TABASCO® Brand Pepper Sauce. Fish and lobster lovers will find no better treat than Joe's Redfish 'N Lobster with its seared redfish topped with creamy lobster sauce loaded with spinach, mushrooms and more lobster, accompanied by crab dirty rice. And, don't be surprised if you hear a few puns from your server while you're there. They dish those out just for the halibut.

Some of the best tastes of the sea are at Broadway. Celebrate National Seafood Month with us!

It's Officially Fall — Myrtle Beach's Secret Season

Fall officially arrived this week, but in Myrtle Beach the days continue to be warm and beautiful.

Locals call late September to mid-October the Secret Season. While Northern and Midwestern communities may be raking leaves and preparing for winter, Myrtle Beach is still enjoying much of what makes it a great vacation destination in the summer.

With schools back in session, there are uncrowded beaches, shorter lines at popular amusements and restaurants, and minimal traffic on key thoroughfares in Myrtle Beach.

It's an unhurried time that's perfect for sunbathing on the beach, swimming in the still-warm ocean or hotel pool, fishing, golf and shopping.

In this Secret Season, gentle breezes blow through the palm trees along Celebrity Circle at Broadway at the Beach. Sunny afternoons become the perfect time to stroll down the wide walkways that wind by a wide variety of Broadway shops.

Refreshing and relaxing, fall days are ideal for a leisurely lunch or romantic dinner at one of the many Broadway restaurants. Several overlook Lake Broadway where watchers are entertained by flotillas of colorful ducks, curious fish and other lakeside friends.

It's easy to find a seafood special at Broadway in the fall. On Saturday, September 24, oyster lovers will be heading to the Original Shucker's Raw Bar for an all-you-can-eat oyster roast for just $15.99. From 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. you can eat your fill while you catch a college football game. Or make Shucker's your choice for NFL action on Sunday, September 25, when shrimp and chicken wings will be 50 cents each all day.

The Secret Season is also a great time for food festivals at Broadway. Mark your calendar for the Omar Shrine Smoke On The Beach BBQ Competition on Friday, September 30 and Saturday, October 1. Whether you sign up to compete or just come to eat, don't miss these two days of good times and great food!

From fundraising events like the Out of Darkness Walk (October 8) to the bonanza of sauces and pasta dishes at the Sons of Italy Festival (October 8 & 9) to the excitement of classic car shows like the Cruisin' The Beach Car Show (October 13 – 15), Broadway is the place for fun in the fall. Four Ways To Enjoy Football Season In Myrtle Beach

Posted in Broadway at the Beach, Featured Posts

College football season started last week and the NFL kicks off this week. Have you made plans for where and how you'll enjoy football this season?

1. If you don't have tickets to go to a stadium, try a sports bar. On game days, Myrtle Beach sports bars overflow with the infectious excitement of crowds of cheering fans.

Chuck & Duck's Sports Grill at Broadway at the Beach has nine 50-inch TVs that can be transformed into one jumbo display for a pivotal game. There are also 50 more 50-inch high-definition LED TVs perched throughout the grill and on the patio. It's not hard to find your favorite team onscreen and connect with some fellow fans at Chuck & Duck's.

If you're a multi-tasker who watches the games but also likes to be engaged in a little friendly competition, check out the Original Shucker's Raw Bar. You can watch your favorite teams while enjoying some pool, darts, Golden Tee, Pin Ball, and even shuffleboard. Don't worry about missing a crucial play because there are 30 flat screen televisions.

You can also cheer on your favorite team in the brand new home of Broadway Louie's, where you'll be surrounded by big screen TVs. You can even book a VIP Skybox to view the game with friends. The home of a very vibrant karaoke scene and a wide assortment of video games, Broadway Louie's is where you can be sure that even your friends who are not football fans can have a great time!

2. Enjoy a more low-key atmosphere? Broadway at the Beach has several restaurants and many also have big screen TVs. You can enjoy a meal, engage in some banter with the bartender or other fans around the bar while keeping an eye on the game.

3. Dress the part to get in the spirit. Whether you go out for the game or entertain some like-minded friends in your man (or woman) cave, why not suit up in your favorite team colors? Sports Fanatics at Broadway at the Beach has sportswear featuring the logos of both NCAA and NFL teams. You can even get the numbered jersey of your favorite player. Or get a logoed cap at LIDS.

4. Transform your surroundings. While you're outfitting yourself for the game, pick up some things to create a stadium feel in your own game-viewing room. Sports Fanatics and The Man Cave Store have just the logoed glasses, mugs and home décor items you need for your home or that beachfront condo you're renting on game day.

Suit up. Head out. Stay in. It's football season. Be ready!
