Light Up Your Holidays With Scented Candles

Posted in Broadway at the Beach, Featured Posts, Shopping

Can you imagine the holidays without candles? Not many Americans can.

The ambiance created by candles makes a home warm and welcoming for holiday guests. Candles also promote a feeling of relaxation during the stressful holiday season. Seven out of 10 households use candles as a focal point for their home décor, says The National Candle Association, and candles inspire aromatherapy-like relaxation and stress reduction.

Fragrance is the number one reason most people choose a particular candle. At the Yankee Candle® Store at Broadway at the Beach, you can see, hold, and smell true-to-life fragrances and select the one just right for you.

Fragrances like “Winter Glow” and “Balsam & Cedar” stir thoughts of a walk through tall pines on a crisp winter day. Scents like “Cozy By The Fire,” “Holiday Homecoming” and “Celebrate Christmas” bring back warm memories of family gathered round to celebrate. You can even fill you home with the smells of fresh-baked treats with candles like “Gingerbread,” “Christmas Cookies,” and “Cinnamon Vanilla.”

For those who prefer to enjoy the fragrance without the flame, Yankee Candle has nontraditional options such as the Elsa Scenterpiece™ electric warmer which melts the scented candle wax, filling a room with fragrance. Why not give yourself a real treat, and choose a Scenterpiece that is outfitted with an automatic shutoff and adjustable timer. Set it when you leave the house and return to a home filled with your favorite scents.

And since it's the gift-giving season, you'll want to check out the available gift baskets, lanterns and other special gifts at Yankee Candle that can light up the holiday season for family and friends.

Whether you prefer tapers, votives, pillars or jar candles for your most important moments, a candle is an indispensable element when setting a festive mood or nourishing a sense of relaxation, fun and luxury.

What scent, color or shape, will be your seasonal essential?

Celebrate National Pretzel Month With A Stop At Auntie Anne's

Posted in Broadway at the Beach, Featured Posts, Dining

October is National Pretzel Month. It's time to celebrate the creation of one of mankind's truly twisted inventions — the soft pretzel. Legend says that Christian monks created the doughy treat as far back as the 12th century. They twisted the pretzels into the shape of crossed arms – the popular posture for prayer in those very old days. By the 17th century, the pretzel knot was being revered as a symbol of everlasting love.

Some reports say the pretzel came over to America with the first English settlers, but it wasn't until 1861 that the first pretzel factory was built in Pennsylvania. Today, one of that state's claims to fame is that it produces 80% of all the pretzels made in the U.S.

Which brings us to Auntie Anne's, a company that started selling its pretzels at a Pennsylvania farmers market in 1988, and now has a home at Broadway at the Beach.

At Auntie Anne's in Broadway's Caribbean Village, these delicious snacks are mixed, hand-rolled and shaped right before your eyes, then baked to perfection as you wait with your mouth watering.

Auntie Anne's likes to say that it's “raising the standard of snacking" and few who have tasted their pretzels would disagree. In addition to their awesomely delicious basic pretzel, there are adventurous options like roasted garlic & parmesan and jalapeno. A variety of scrumptious dips are offered to jazz up the pretzely goodness.

But where's the meat? It's in the pepperoni pretzel and Auntie Anne's salute to the great American hot dog. Don't miss that unusually delicious treat formed by snuggling a plump Nathan's Famous hot dog inside soft, chewy pretzel dough.

Got a sweet tooth? Check out the sweet almond, raisin and cinnamon sugar pretzels. For the nuggets fan, Auntie Anne's has pretzel nuggets covered in cinnamon sugar or stuffed with cheddar cheese.

Why not celebrate fall and National Pretzel Month by sharing your thoughts about Auntie Anne's pretzels using #NationalPretzelMonth on social media?

Then, take a stroll around Lake Broadway. There's no better snack to have in hand on a crisp autumn day than a warm, soft pretzel.

Muscle Car Memories Are At Broadway At The Beach This Weekend

Remember cruising down Ocean Boulevard in a '65 Mustang, top down, hair blowing in the wind? Does the sight of a decades-old Pontiac GTO stir memories of dusty races on empty roads with teenagers cheering?

Gentlemen (and ladies), mark your calendar! The Cruisin' The Beach Car Show is coming to Broadway and it's bringing the memories, as well as the machines.

On October 15, 16 and 17 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., you can see classic cars, trucks, motorcycles, street rods and muscle cars. Hosted by the Myrtle Beach Car Club, the event will feature T-shirts, souvenirs, food and drink. Awards, door prizes and trophies will be given out. There will even be a raffle with a portion of the proceeds going to the Children's Hospital of South Carolina.

If a day at the car show fills you with the need for speed, head on over to Broadway's SIM Racing Experience. Strap yourself in, start your engine and experience the thrill of a simulated racing experience.

Or take home the ultimate souvenir, a model of your favorite car from RIDEMAKERZ where kids 4 to 104 can build 1:18 scale cars and trucks. The classic car body styles like Camaro, Viper, and Mustang are all there — and you can even add radio-control. For the littlest car fans in the family, models include Disney-Pixar's Lightning McQueen and Mater, as well as Spiderman vehicles.

This weekend put your pedal to the metal and head to Broadway at the Beach to fuel your passion for classic cars and more.
